Phase
is a term used to indicate the relative positions of the wave peaks in
a complex waveform. In other words, when dealing with a complex
wave (multiple frequencies), the peaks and valleys of the waves either
match up or not. IN PHASE refers
to a condition where all of the peaks and valleys of the different waves,
whereas OUT OF PHASE indicates that the peaks and valleys do not exactly
overlap. Phase is measured in degrees of a circle from
zero to 360 degrees. Phase distribution
refers to acoustic partials only, not the automatous partials shown in
the Spectral Essence views. When
partials are IN PHASE it indicates a condition of transient order
and usually indicates something that is about to manifest. OUT OF PHASE (highly distributed) signatures
indicate a chaotic condition of relative stability and calm.
There
are two different indicators of phase distribution:
1.
PHASE COHERENCY (in/out of phase): ideally, the phase should be fully distributed...equal
amounts of in-phase and out of phase components. If all partials were
at zero or 360 degrees of phase, the result would sound like pulses or
clicks. (shown on the linear view data page). The phasing of the complex partials, as
formed by the relationship between their real and imaginarycomponents,
can be seen on this page. The zoom function allows various bandwidths
to show in the screen.
2.
PHASE DISTRIBUTION is also shown on the polar view data page. This view is a typical clock diagram with zero
and 360 degrees at 12:00, 90 degrees at 3:00, 180 degrees at 6:00, and
270 degrees at 9:00 on the clock face.
Ideally, a full distribution around the circle is preferable and
indicates one’s ability to get things done.
Four quadrants of the manifestation cycle: reveals how well a person
functions in the four areas of quadrants of the Manifestation Cycle:
(shown on the data page under polar view - click the linear
button to switch to the polar view and again to switch back to
linear). The total values of magnitude present in each
quadrant of the Phase Cycle are shown in the corners of the diagrams. A normal distribution shows 25% in each quadrant.
